This Is My FAVORITE Latte To Make At Home (and it only needs two ingredients!)
This video gives a preview of Morgan's upcoming coffee book "Coffee for Here" (out October 27). She shares her favorite latte to make at home – the "Breakfast for Breakfast" Cereal Milk Latte.
🥄 Ingredients & Tools
- Only 2-3 main ingredients: Milk, cereal (e.g., Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Froot Loops, Fruity Pebbles), and espresso (or cold brew concentrate).
- Milk: Any type works (whole, oat, soy, etc.) – 1:1 substitution.
- Espresso (recommended): Medium roast with chocolatey notes (avoid light, acidic ones).
👩🍳 Step-by-Step Guide
-
Make Cereal Milk (30–40 min ahead):
- 60 g cereal + 500 g milk (yields ~2 drinks).
- Stir, cover, and steep in fridge for 30 minutes.
- Strain through a fine sieve or cheesecloth – the residual particles add creamy texture and flavor.
- Keeps 5–7 days in the fridge.
-
Iced Version:
- Pull a double shot of espresso.
- Add about 240 ml (8 oz) cereal milk.
- Froth with a handheld milk frother for 15 seconds (for fluffy, aerated texture).
- Pour over ice, garnish with extra cereal.
-
Hot Version:
- Pull a double shot into a glass.
- Steam ~240 ml cereal milk with steam wand (remember to purge the wand afterwards).
- Pour like a regular latte, garnish with cereal.
💡 Tips & Variations
- Cereal choice: Anything sweet or glazed works (Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Froot Loops, etc.).
- The cereal milk can also be used plain or in other drinks.
- The latte is sweet but not overly so – complex, creamy, with a nostalgic twist.
