Toyota Just Revealed The Ultimate Hot Hatch! | 4K
The Toyota GR Corolla GRMN is the most extreme version of the already sporty GR Corolla. The acronym GRMN stands for Gazu Racing Meister of the Nürburgring, making it clear that this car has been tuned to the absolute limit on the Nordschleife.
Exterior: Form Follows DownforceThe design is aggressive and functional, using numerous carbon fiber parts (hood, fenders, roof) to save weight.
- Front: Large air intakes, a front splitter, and carbon flicks guide the airflow. The grille shutters and hood vents not only aid cooling but actually generate downforce.
- Side: The massive carbon fiber fenders have integrated vents that reduce turbulence in the wheel wells and also create downforce.
- Rear: A large, 5-way adjustable rear spoiler (in 2° increments) balances the downforce generated at the front axle.
- Details: 18-inch forged alloy wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and a 3-pipe exhaust system with an active bypass for maximum sound from around 4,100 RPM.
- Engine: The familiar 1.6-liter three-cylinder turbo (G16E-GTS) still produces about 300 hp, but has more torque (7 lb-ft more) in a specific rev range (4000-4600 RPM) for optimal corner exit.
- Transmission: Comes standard with a 6-speed manual gearbox and auto rev-matching. The AWD system is variable and allows a manual adjustment of the torque split (e.g., 80% rear, 20% front) via a dial.
- Suspension: The front dampers are inverted (as in race cars), increasing precision. The car is about 30 kg lighter than a standard GR Corolla, weighing roughly 1,460 kg. Toyota claims a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time in the low 4-second range.
- Two-Seater Only: The rear seats have been removed and replaced by a stabilizer bar. The resulting space is still usable for storage.
- Racing Feel: New sport bucket seats with a low seating position, an Alcantara steering wheel, a manual handbrake, and a flop dash (anti-glare cover) evoke a real race car feel.
- Features: Despite the focus on weight reduction, amenities like a touchscreen, wireless charging, and a digital instrument cluster with a Morizo signature are retained.
Alongside the GRMN, the Morizo RR was presented (still a concept). It features a more subtle spoiler, five seats, and an 8-speed automatic transmission, but shares the GRMN's core technology.
Conclusion: A Masterpiece of Details, Sadly Not for EveryoneThe GRMN Corolla proves that in the hot hatch segment, pure horsepower isn't everything. The consistent track-focused development and the countless aerodynamic and chassis details make it an extremely focused vehicle. A major disappointment: The GRMN Corolla will not be coming to the UK (and most likely not to Germany either).
